Financial Accounting Exam Questions and Explanations: Exam Questions and Explanations (Gleim Knowledge Transfer Systems)
Published in Paperback by Gleim Publications (July, 1999)
Authors: Irvin N. Gleim, William Arthur Collins, and Grady M. Irwin
Average review score:

Great Book
This book is great! The questions are very helpful and relate well to the chapters in my intermediate textbook. The explanations to the correct answers are also very helpful when you get a question wrong. The CPA exam questions used in the book are challenging, but are a good preparation for the CPA exam. Also, the many professors like to use questions directly from this book, for their exams!

Fire and Love: In the Midst of the Great War
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (April, 2000)
Authors: Arthur Lach and Victor Giraud
Average review score:

Awesome Power of Love, Compassion and Survival...
This is the true-life, inspirational and harrowing account of the author's own adventures as a young man caught up in World War II. Narrowly escaping with his life from the gutted ruins of bombarded cities and bloody battlefields, Arthur Lach is determined to hike the thousand miles home, come hell or high water. Amidst the horror and carnage of war, he gets plenty of both, but a magnetic, spiritual force guides and protects him, pulling him back from the brink of destruction time after time.

Beaten nearly to death, Lach barely escapes a firing squad. Dodging the continuos danger from the fighting forces, he encounters the lovely Monica. A novitiate nurse who had been brutally raped and tortured by the Nazis, she persuades him to join the Resistance. They fall in love, but in trying to rescue a group of women and children bound for a German concentration camp, a heart-rending tragedy occurs.

This book had me running the guantlet of emotions, alternatingly crying, laughing, fear, horror, and anger. This is a deeply personal story of a very special human being. I highly recommend it to everyone, man or woman; young or old. It is a story you will never forget.

The first night Gilbert and Sullivan : containing complete librettos of the 14 operas, exactly as presented at their première performances : illustrated with contemporary drawings
Published in Unknown Binding by Chappell ()
Author: Arthur Sullivan
Average review score:

Very Interesting Book on First Night Performances
This is more than just a book containing the libretti from the first Night of each of G&S's brilliant operettas. It also contains historical essays placing each of the operettas in it place in time and discusses, to the extent known the reasons for the changes. It also contains a separate box holding facsimiles of the programs from Opening Night. (An interesting bit of trivia is that the opening night program for a particular Opera does not feature characters from THAT opera, but rather from an earlier oprea. Thus, for example, the Program for Ruddigore (the Witches Curse) has a picture from Iolanthe on the front cover, and pictures from Pirates and Iolanthe on the program pages). The true value in the work is the libretti. They show the works, as performed on opening night, which allow a modern performer to see how the standard script has changed over the years.

This book is an excellent source of information.
This book is an excellent source of information for anyone who fishes the waters of the bluegrass state. You will find yourself returning to it again and again as reference. It is doubtful if anyone has more knowledge about the lakes in Kentucky than Mr. Lander
